Our Business Model
Knowa is literally a "virtual organization." Collectively, we are an organization of 20-30 strategic
partners, distributed globally. We have founders and project managers in Tennessee, designers and artists
in Argentina and Romania, programmers and software engineers in Russia, database developers in Ukraine, and so on.
The point is, all of us have worked together for years, and we come together to form teams as needed. Much like a
Hollywood studio, for any new project we check our contacts and pull together a team with the necessary skills
to accomplish the project goal.
Global development teams is a force in the world of software development. If you read the journals, it's all
the rage. But, to us here at knowa, it is nothing new. We have managed globally-distributed teams since 1993.
The software development profession is interesting in that all developers pretty much spend their lives
in the same place---on the internet. So, whether one team member is on the internet in Russia, while another
is on the internet in Tennessee, the result is the same. Constant, instant communication is a simple thing,
regardless of whether or not all our bottoms are sitting in the same office.
The big driver for us is skill sets. Talented people are where you find them.
